The construction and demomition (C&D) waste is one of
the largest streams of waste in Cyprus. Since April
2020, Latomia Latouros Ltd holds a permit for Recycling
C&D Waste to support Cyprus’ efforts in reducing
landfilling operations of C&D waste and to improve
environmental, economical and social life.
Latomia Latouros Ltd cooperates with Recycling Point –
Latouros & Xenis Bros Ltd (one of its affiliate
companies) for the sorting, processing and recycling of
the waste it receives.
The purpose of the recycling plant is to sort the mixed
C&D waste into 20 different components of waste, such
as: concrete, asphalt, wood, metals, paper, plastic,
glass, gypsum wallboard etc, and process the sorted
waste to produce clean recycled aggregates that can be
used again in the construction industry. The residual
waste is transported to an energy recovery company in
Cyprus that uses incineration to produce thermal energy.
Only the waste that cannot be used for incineration,
about 10% of the received waste, is destined for
landfill
“Our goal is to achieve waste policy objectives by increasing both, the quantity and the quality of recycled C&D waste. We try our best to separate out from mixed waste, constituent materials of value, while minimizing the associated residual wastes destined for the landfill”
Antonis Antoniou Latouros, Managing Director at Latomia Latouros Ltd
Latomia Latouros Ltd has created a very good tradition
of organised blood donations (since 2006) at its
premises, in collaboration with the Cyprus Ministry of
Health’s Blood Centre. Through this event, the company
encourages all employees, customers, associates, family
and friends to give the ‘gift of life’ to other human
beings.
Since 2018, Latomia Latouros’ initiative was expanded to
also support the ambitious work and dynamic vision of
other foundations such as: Karaiskakio Foundation (an
internationally recognized Bone Marrow Donors Registry),
One Dream One Wish, and Iliaktiida Zois.
